In a world where abundance and shortages go hand in hand, Huis van Compassie's Food Hub Nijmegen is taking the lead in the fight against food waste and loneliness. We are convinced that a fair and sustainable food system is possible, especially in our region.
What Are We Doing?
Our core business is collecting surplus food from local farms, urban gardens and supermarkets. This food is then distributed by volunteers to social eating initiatives and neighborhood restaurants. Here everyone, regardless of background or financial situation, can enjoy a healthy meal. Every week we collect an average of 500 kg of food, providing 1,500 meals for 25 social eating initiatives.
