The Friends of the House of Compassion Foundation aims to raise funds to support the House of Compassion in Nijmegen. These funds are used to finance activities for and by vulnerable people in our society.
It concerns activities of the Huis van Compassie Nijmegen foundation that:
- have obtained no or insufficient funding from regular grantmakers;
- are partly funded by grantmakers but not enough to get the activities started and/or achieve the intended objectives of the activity;
- are not included in the annual plans and for which no grant is available but which, in the opinion of the Board of the House of Compassion, are important to carry out due to social developments.
The foundation seeks to achieve its goal by, among other things:
1. Calling on sympathisers of the House of Compassion to donate;
2. Crowdfunding for a specific activity of the House of Compassion;
3. Acquiring other acquisitions and benefits.
The Friends of the House of Compassion Foundation has a limited board consisting of a chairman, secretary and treasurer. Activities of the foundation also make use of volunteers of the House of Compassion Nijmegen.
The board members receive no remuneration for their work. Only expenses actually incurred are reimbursed.
The Friends of the House of Compassion Foundation was established on 3 February 2020.
An amount of €9,050 was transferred to the Huis van Compassie Nijmegen Foundation in 2022. Apart from bank charges, no further costs were incurred by the foundation in the period 2020 to 2022. In 2023, a larger amount was transferred to the House of Compassion than usual. In that year, the House of Compassion celebrated its 10th anniversary. In addition to the Friends Foundation's contribution for e.g. meals, support was then also given to celebrate this anniversary, including a festive open day.
